   Particulate Scrubbers

AAT's variable throat venturi Orion Series Particulate Scrubber systems will remove dust and particulates from the air from almost any exhaust source. Our systems range from small point of source units to 50,000 CFM. Our unique design in Particulate Scrubbers uses energy efficient geometry incorporating dual cascading distributors and an adjustable impingement plate. AAT’s wet Particulate Scrubbers are ideally suited for hydroscopic, corrosive, explosive or biodegradable dusts. Custom engineered Particulate Scrubbers can also incorporate dry particulate filters.

Orion Particulate Scrubber Principle of Operation

The Orion Particulate Scrubber is designed to accelerate the air into a wetted throat section. The high velocity air sheers the liquid against the throat walls, breaking the liquid film into a collection of thousands of tiny droplets. These droplets, just prior to being accelerated to the air stream velocity, serve as targets for collision of the particulates being scrubbed. The impacted particulates are carried with the droplets into the sump, where they settle to the bottom for removal as sludge, or are removed in an overflow or bleed stream. Some of the droplets are entrained with the air and do not fall into the sump. These droplets are removed by passing the air through a mist eliminator prior to exiting the particulate scrubber. Air scrubbed of the particulates is then typically either exhausted to atmosphere or sent downstream for further scrubbing to remove gas phase pollutants serviced by other types of AAT air scrubbers.
